Buckett & Weil was founded in 2011 after recent Marquette Law School graduates and lifelong friends Bob Buckett and Matt Weil decided to set out on their own and provide affordable, yet reliable, legal representation to residents of southeast Wisconsin who have been charged with criminal offenses.

Since 2011, Bob and Matt have tirelessly worked with thousands of clients in the area to achieve the best possible result for their individual case. Dozens of their cases have resolved with not guilty verdicts, dismissals, deferred prosecutions, and amended charges. They have also strived to develop a sterling reputation among judges and prosecutors alike, so that the Buckett & Weil name is synonymous with professional and dedicated legal representation.

In addition to their work in the courtroom, both Bob and Matt have made a priority of giving back to the legal community in any way they can.  They have spoken on multiple occasions at Marquette Law School to the Starting & Managing a Law Practice class to pass along their expertise in creating and growing a business and have always taken the time to speak with current law school students and young lawyers who are contemplating making the decision to go out on their own.

These efforts led to Bob and Matt being featured in the Summer 2015 issue of Marquette Magazine. Matt has also been highlighted as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine every year from 2015-2021, an honor bestowed upon no more than 2.5% of the lawyers in the State who have been practicing for less than ten years. Additionally, Bob was awarded the 2023 Stilling-Kuchler-Nicholson Award by the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in recognition of his work defending clients charged with sensitive crimes. He received this award after obtaining a not guilty verdict at jury trial for a client charged with First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, a class B felony, in 2022.

In addition to their work in criminal defense, both Bob and Matt have become certified as guardians ad litem and provided representation for countless children in family cases in southeast Wisconsin. They have also both been named to the Wisconsin Pro Bono Honor Society every year since 2016 for their continued work with indigent clients who cannot afford representation.
